UFC Controversy

The UFC has been gaining a huge amount of controversy over the past couple years as its popularity has skyrocketed. At one time it was seen as some sort of savage, underground fight club (great movie). Now many would argue that its almost as popular as boxing. You also have celebrities like Joe Rogan and Kevin James endorsing it. Rogan is a UFC announcer, while James helps train fighters. Whether or not everybody wants to accept it, the UFC is here to stay. Many parents, politicians, and religious activist claim that the UFC is nothing more than savagery and senseless brutality, but I strongly disagree. I think that many people are born with a deep, primal aggression and if something like this goes unchecked it could end in tragedy. Fights like this are a way to channel this aggression into a controlled environment. It is also a good way for spectators to blow off steam. It creates an adrenaline rush that people thrive on. I do not believe that humans are inherently evil, but I think we do have primitive aggressive urges that we must express. So, if you couldn't tell by now, I'm somewhat of a UFC fan. I haven't really been watching it for that long, but am already a big supporter. An interesting fact that I came across is that no deaths have occurred during any UFC fights, while on the other hand plenty have been attributed to boxing.
