When the gym is just too pricey

The economic climate right now means, cutting out the expendables in many of our budgets. Gym memberships can be very expensive, usually upwards of a hundred dollars a month. I found an excellent article in the NY Times, which discusses the benefits of a workout regimen based solely on climbing stair.

Think about it, there are stairs everywhere you go, take a few minutes, and do some laps up and down you may be surprised how good you feel.

Good post! I have always had issues with paying to exercise, especially since there isn't anything productive about it. Why not clean the house, mow the lawn, or go cleanup the local park or beach?

However, gyms do offer a lot of equipment all in one place, so if you are looking to get a good all around workout, gyms can be worth it.

The YMCA and JCC have good prices for community gyms, and low-cost / no-frills gyms are becoming more popular. I was a member of Super Fitness in Quincy for a few years and it was only around $20 / month because I signed up for two years.
